Back for the holidays from Colgate University, Luke Merkel pasted the competition, winning in 9:58, and Cynthia Morgan capped a successful year, finishing first among women in 12:56.
Nine students from St. Anne's School in Annapolis ran, along with three moms. The race coordinator just happened to bring nine DCRRC medallions, which the young athletes wore proudly.
Every runner received a "Last Race of Autumn 2005" certificate, as the winter solstice occurred at 1:35 pm.
